How does a coil of DNA end up building a whole living body?

Curled up inside almost every one of your cells is a set of instructions called DNA. It is far too tiny to see, yet somehow it builds an entire you: bones, blood, eyelashes, the lot. So how can a microscopic coil of instructions turn into a whole living body?
