Mystery #1Tier 2materials / metals

Why can you bend a metal spoon but a glass one would just snap?

Grab a metal teaspoon and give it a gentle bend. It curves, springs back, and never shatters. Now imagine doing the same to a spoon made of glass: it would snap in two before it bent at all. Both are hard solids, so why does one bend and the other break?
