Why do some butterfly wings flash and shift colour as they tilt in the light?
Tilt a blue morpho butterfly in the sunshine and its wings blaze an electric blue that seems lit from within, flashing and deepening as it turns. Try to find that exact blue in a drop of paint and you never quite can. The colour seems to live in the light itself. So how do these wings shimmer and change as they move?
