Mystery #4Tier 3light / colour

Why do your clothes look the wrong colour under an orange street lamp?

Under some orange street lamps at night, the world turns strange. Your bright red coat looks grubby and grey, a blue car looks almost black, and everything drains to gloomy shades of brown. Your coat is still red, and your eyes still work. So why do the colours come out so wrong?
