Why do small birds happily perch and peck all over a giant buffalo or rhino?
Out on the African plains, tiny birds hop all over the backs of enormous buffalo, rhinos and giraffes, pecking busily at their skin. The huge animals could shrug them off in a heartbeat, but instead they stand calm and let the birds stay. Why would a giant put up with a bird crawling all over it?
