Why do two magnets snap together one way but shove apart the other?
Hold two magnets near each other and something strange happens. One way round, they leap together and clamp tight. Flip one of them over and they suddenly fight you, pushing apart as if an invisible cushion sat between them. Same two magnets, yet they cannot decide whether to hug or to flee. Why?
