Mystery #4Tier 1electricity / circuits / switches

How can a tiny switch turn a whole light on and off?

A light switch is smaller than your thumb, yet one flick can fill a whole room with light, or plunge it into darkness. The switch does not make the electricity, and it does not store any. So how can something so small take total control of the light?
