Mystery #1Tier 1-2heat / conduction

Why does metal feel colder than wood, even in the same room?

Touch the metal leg of a table, then touch the wooden top. The metal feels icy and the wood feels cosy, yet they have been sitting in the very same room all morning. A thermometer would tell you they are exactly the same temperature. So why do your fingers swear that one is colder than the other?
