Mystery #2Tier 2stars and sky

Why does one star stay put all night while the rest slowly circle around it?

Watch the night sky for a few hours and something odd happens: nearly every star drifts slowly across the sky, yet one star seems nailed in place while the others wheel around it in great circles. Sailors once steered whole voyages by it. What makes that single star sit so still?
