Mystery #2Tier 2-3physics / light

Why is the picture on your retina upside-down, yet the world looks the right way up?

Here is a strange fact: the picture focused onto the back of your eye is actually upside-down. The ground is at the top, the sky at the bottom. So why on earth does the world look perfectly the right way up to you?

An old drawing of a camera obscura: light through a small hole projects an upside-down image of the town outside onto an inside wall.
